I want to share something with you.
My daughter frequently asks me, “mom, can you tell me a story?”. Whenever she asks me this, I feel SO helpless! I don’t know how to tell stories. I know there is a beginning, then something happens, and then there is an end. But how do I effectively string all this together?!
The times where I do manage to put something together, she LISTENS SO INTENTLY, I feel SO EMOTIONALLY CONNECTED, and I feel like I have just taught her a set of values and cultural norms that I so strongly desire for her to know.
And that’s why I initiated this 90 minute storytelling workshop on Monday, November 2nd @ 8:45 pm EST - to be able to CONFIDENTLY TELL STORIES to my children - about our family, our values, and about our prophets and other honorable people from our traditions.
-
The power of storytelling
-
How to become a GREAT storyteller
-
The BICEP method for telling a story (created by Ustadha Rukayat)
-
Understanding your audience (ie. what is important to each age group)
We will apply all of these to stories from the seerah, and then have a chance to write our own stories. We will end with a breakout session where we can practice what we have learned in smaller groups.
I hope you are able to join - this is going to be a very unique and applicable workshop, iA.
